Who we are

Unstuck is a task and focus app for web, iOS, and Android. This policy applies to the Unstuck apps and the unstucknow.io website. We are the data controller for the personal data described here and process it in line with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We work with a small set of trusted providers (listed below) that process data on our behalf, and we require each of them to handle it securely and in compliance with the GDPR. To reach us about privacy, email privacy@unstucknow.io.

What data we collect

We only collect what we need to provide and improve the service.

Information you provide
• Account: your email address and an optional display name.
• A password, stored only as a secure hash — or, if you choose Google sign-in, we never see a password at all.
• Your content: the tasks, first steps, captures, focus sessions, collections, and calendar entries you create.

Information collected automatically
• Device and app information (platform, device type, operating system) and how you interact with Unstuck.
• Your IP address, from which we derive an approximate location (country and city) when you sign in — to understand where Unstuck is used and to detect abuse. We do not retain full IP addresses long-term.
• Crash diagnostics, to fix problems. This is not linked to you personally.

Unstuck is free — we do not collect payment or financial information. Notifications, calendar, and microphone are accessed only if you grant the permission, and only for the feature you turn on.

Why we collect your data

To provide and run Unstuck (sync across your devices, the reminders you ask for, and the assistant); to keep your account secure and prevent abuse; to improve the product using aggregate usage signals; and to send essential service messages such as sign-in links and password resets. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not run third-party ad trackers, and we never sell your data.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on these GDPR bases:
Performance of a contract — to provide the service you sign up for.
Legitimate interests — to secure and improve Unstuck, where this does not override your rights.
Consent — for optional device permissions and the AI assistant; you can withdraw it at any time.
Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data by law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary with a small set of trusted service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, and only to deliver the features you use. These cover:
Hosting, database & authentication — securely storing and serving your account and content.
Email delivery — sending account emails such as sign-in links and password resets.
Push notifications — delivering the reminders you enable.
Calendar integration — only if you connect a calendar, to read and write the events you choose.
AI processing — powering the optional assistant (see below).
Each provider is contractually required to protect your data and comply with the GDPR, and we share only what is needed for their task. You can request more detail about the specific processors we use by emailing privacy@unstucknow.io.

The AI assistant

If you use the chat or voice assistant, the messages you type — or speech you dictate, plus the task context needed to answer — are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a reply. This processing may happen on servers outside the EU/EEA. The assistant is optional and the rest of Unstuck works without it; please don’t enter anything you wouldn’t want processed by a third-party AI service.

International transfers

Some providers process data outside the EU/EEA. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent mechanism — to protect your data.

Cookies and local storage

On the web app we use only the essential cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and to run the app. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your content from our active systems promptly, and routine backups age out on a rolling cycle. We may retain limited records where the law requires.

Children's privacy

Unstuck is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

How we keep your data safe

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and restricted access — to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system is completely secure, so please keep your login details private. We will notify you of a data breach where the law requires.

Your rights under the GDPR

Access — see the personal data we hold about you.
Correction — fix inaccurate or incomplete information.
Deletion — have your data erased; you can delete your account and content in-app (Settings → Account → Delete my account).
Restriction — limit how we process your data.
Portability — export your data in a machine-readable format (Settings → Backup gives you a full JSON export).
Objection — object to certain types of processing.
Withdraw consent — at any time, for processing based on consent.

How to exercise your rights
